Leaving Canmore
The time has flown and it's time to head home again. We've enjoyed the beautiful mountains and the non-hot weather. It's been rainier than most summers, but have had days and parts of days where it's been blue and clear, so have had a chance to hike and do many things outdoors. Have enjoyed our time in the house too. Bill and I have 2 electronic bridge games that hook together so we can play partners in bridge, this has really been fun to do when the weather has been lousy and/or we just need something to do when not out and about.

We're leaving Canmore in the morning, Sunday August 16. Previously had planned to go to Glacier NP, but have decided we've seen enough mountains and done enough hiking for now. We're planning to leave via Kootenay NP, going out through Radium Springs, BC, and into Idaho. Hope to get as far as Sandpoint. There are several things there that we think we'd enjoy seeing, the railroad yards, the dam, the mall on the bridge, and as always the scenery. We'll just meander on through Idaho and eventually into Yellowstone NP .... that's all that's planned for now.

Upper Kannanaskis Lake

Sunday August 2 we had beautiful weather and a warmer day than usual, got up to maybe 80. We drove out to Kannanaskis and went for a hike at the Upper Kannanaskis Lake to Rawson Lake. The first weekend of August is Heritage Weekend in Canada and just about everybody is out doing something. Many many people were all over the park and many were at the lake, some swimming and/or boating, and many hiking. Parking lots were packed. We didn't go until about 1 and had to wait for someone to pull out before we could park. It was one of the best weather days we've had recently.

Monday was fine until about 4, then the clouds came back in and the rains came back. Rained all night. Tuesday was overcast, dreary, cold all day. We drove out to Lake Minnewanka area to Two Jack Lake to see if there were any mountain sheep out and about, as they often are, but none were there. Drove into Banff for lunch, walked the streets and shopped for awhile and then came on back home in Canmore.

One day last week we went up near Lake Minnewanka and went for a hike up towards C Cirque, went out on an overlook on an old coal pile near the old coal mine. Had great views to Lake Minnewanka and back towards Canmore. Canmore is about 12 miles as the crow flies and we could see the town with our binoculars.

Today is also cold, high of about 57 if it gets there. and still overcast... so will spend day fiddlin' with photos, maybe some house straightenin', etc. Bill's going to the library to read magazines etc, will go to golf course to hit practice balls, but too cold to play, at least for him, but I'm sure the course will be busy as usual. He goes to the Canmore Golf and Curling Club ( I love that name ).

Will upload recent photos later today.
