Friday, July 17, we packed up the camping gear and moved into our rental house. We've had 2 weeks of mostly lousy weather, lots of rain, some days all day long, not just a drizzle but real rain. Very difficult to do anything. Tent is totally dry and rain is great once we get in, but rain is awful when trying to pack up and/or set up a new site, or to hike. Will add more info and photos later on when I get time to upload them.
Canmore is about 80 miles west of Calgary, about 2 miles from the entrance to Banff NP, and about 15 miles from Banff township. We are in the Mountain Time zone, which is 2 hours earlier than Louisville.
Love our house. We've stayed in Canmore before, but at a different house. The previous one had already been rented for the whole summer, so we had to choose another one. This one is much nicer, but has stairs, 4 floors, half flight each. Tolerable, but not as nice as all on one level. But has a bathroom on all 4 floors!

our house in Canmore where we are now ... you can click on the links to view photos and/or 3D panorama. House is a duplex, we are on the left side.
It doesn't look like much on the outside but is very nice inside. What you see in the first pic is the front deck which accesses via the master bedroom at the front of the house. The back deck is off the living room in the back of the house. ... and the house has a garage which we didn't have at our previoius house. House is 2 miles from town and is in a very dense housing subdivision, we are on the outer edge, so no one is behind us. Have to drive wherever we want to go except for one restaurant about 2 blocks away, haven't tried it yet.
The restaurant down the street is the Iron Goat Bar and Grill and there is a webcam of Canmore on top of it. http://www.canmorealberta.com/news/webcam/index2.html Webcam shows current view of Canmore, updated every 30 seconds.
At the bottom of the webcam page is a weather report, temps in Centigrade, not Fahrenheit. The high today is predicted to be about 73 F.
No rain predicted all week. Figures, now that we've quit camping!!
Glad to be back to civilization! phones, TV, internet, house, bed, washer, and everything!!
